Rural Student Health Sciences Mentorship Program

Helping Students Transition into Health Professions

The purpose of this new program is to start a mentorship program between medical students at TTUHSC Lubbock and high school students from rural areas interested in medicine, with extensive support from West Texas Area Health Education Center (AHEC) and various departments at the TTUHSC School of Medicine. This coordinated effort is a great way for medical students to share their stories and paths to success for getting into college/medical school, while also helping interested students realize their potential for pursuing health careers and returning to their hometowns to practice and serve, helping many of our fledgling communities build their medical capacity.
